Pastor's Note

“Action is the antidote to despair” – Joan Baez

Praying for all those working to protect the vulnerable.

Praying for all those marching against oppression.

Praying for all those loving their neighbors & keeping hope alive.

Each action creates momentum. Don’t give up

A Prayer In Times of Violence.

From Daily Prayer with the Corrymeela Community by Padraig Ó Tuama

God of All Humanity—

in times of violence,

we see how inhuman we can be.

We pray for those who,

today, are weighed down by grief.

We pray for those who,

yesterday, were weighed down by grief.

And the day before,

and all the days before

the day before.

We pray, too, for those who

help us turn towards justice and peace.

Turn us all towards justice and peace

because we need it.  Amen.

Also of Note

Note from the Lopez Island Transition Team:

The Lopez Transition Team (Mary Ann Cameron, Ruth Fothergill, George Lawson, and Henning Sehmsdorf), along with Transition Pastor Erik Samuelson, have scheduled another Lopez Congregation Conversation to talk about the future of the Lopez Branch of the Lutheran Church in the San Juans. This meeting will be held at Grace Hall at Grace Episcopal Church on Lopez on Tuesday, February 10 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.

This is an important meeting, and the Team is hoping as many members as possible will attend. We need to explore our hopes and desires for a Lutheran Ministry on Lopez and become clearer about what is important as we consider possibilities, which could include partnerships, relationships, and other ministry options. An invitation has been extended to Grace’s new vicar, Myra Ryneheart Corcorran, to join us for a portion of the meeting.

The Transition Team realizes that since the Gathering will be in the evening, there may be some who are reluctant to drive at night. If you live on Lopez and would like a ride to and from Grace Church for the meeting, please let Mary Ann Cameron know by phone (425-361-9933) or email (maccameron@frontier.com).

The Team is looking forward to this Gathering as we continue our journey towards discovering what God has in mind for the Lopez Branch!
