About the event

Goats for Widows - Lopez Episcopal Church 8/5 @ 6:30 pm

The Venerable Father John Ng’oma, an Anglican priest from Malawi, will visit Lopez on August 5, 2026 at 6:30pm to present and share about how Goats for Widows changes lives for women in poverty in SE Africa. Please join us in Grace Hall for a PowerPoint presentation, conversation and cookie reception following the presentation. Goats are an affordable and sustainable livestock option in Malawi because they can thrive on marginal land that is unsuitable for other farm animals. Also, goats’ housing needs are minimal, and they are efficient at converting diverse forage into milk and meat. Using funds raised, John has already been able to distribute over 100 goats to widows in need in SE Africa.

We acknowledge the Central Coast Salish people, who are the traditional custodians of the land on which we work and live, and recognize their continuing connection to the land, water, and air that we consume. We pay respect to the tribes of the San Juan Islands (Sooke, Saanich, Songhees, Lummi, Samish, Semiahmoo), all Nations, and their elders past, present, and emerging.
